About Palisades
The Palisades is a bluff neighborhood in Capistrano Beach, at the southern end of Dana Point, climbing along Palisades Drive above Pacific Coast Highway, the railroad and Capistrano Beach County Park. The streets grew out of the Doheny family's 1920s development of Capistrano Beach, and the neighborhood has been part of Dana Point since the city incorporated on January 1, 1989.
Palisades Gazebo Park, a city park at 26401 Palisades Drive, looks out over the ocean from partway up the bluff, and Pines Park sits on the bluff nearby; in 2022 the city's Planning Commission added both to its Historic Resource Register. Homes here are mostly single-family houses and duplexes built from the late 1950s to the mid-1970s.
